Neat little content touch from gimmebar.com.

The little pink box pops up when you opt into the suggestion that you add the Gimme bookmarklet or ‘Gimme Bar’ to your bookmarks bar.

Top marks given not so much for the cute copy but rather for the way in which the copy relates to a specific user action and to a specific browser.

It’s sweet, and speaks thoughtfulness, care, and cleverness.

As a note: I’ve tagged this entry under ‘call to action’ as, although it is not strictly a call to action, it relates to a call to action.

This is a piece of copy I created for a design and media business offering a range of services including photo touch-up. I most love text where I have the space and freedom to attempt to capture emotion. I can do short and snappy, but I prefer delving into the mind. This is a piece of work that was somewhere in the middle, for me. I had enough space to get into the emotion, but I didn’t have room for 500 words or more. This is me, doing what I like to do best in fairly limited space.

You Love Us were looking for a simple way to streamline clients into three pricing packages — I suggested four, and used simple, short four word headlines separated into two sentences for the tl;dr crowd, coupled with a friendly, approachable — essentially human — vibe over longer copy.

The “Two Words. Two Words.” headline approach is punchy and powerful and has always been very popular with clients. It can feel over-used these days, but the use of bold formatting breathes new life into the copy.

It was essential to convey the niche / boutique nature of YLU in positive terms. I did this by placing an emphasis on creativity (“no support staff = more, for less”) and explaining the additional value offered by the telephone / email support only packages.
